Will the Unchartered movie still be released in 2021?

It’s only been about a decade since the announcement was made that a feature film would be produced for the titular game franchise. Yet, here we are in 2020, having made it closer than ever before in the tumultuous journey to create the movie adaptation- only to have it snuffed out by this filthy Corona Virus.

The production as seen a number of directors come and go before getting off the ground, but in February it was finally set to begin filming, with sights set on a March, 2021 release. Scheduling was going to be tight due to the commitments Tom Holland already has with the next Spiderman film.

So, now that filming has been put on hold once again, can we expect to see Nathan Drake’s origin story of sorts hitting theatres next year? Probably not, right?

It would seem unlikely that the mismanaged, and long drawn out beginnings of the Unchartered movie would warrant it taking priority over shooting of an already successful franchise the likes of Spiderman.

Fans of the Unchartered games may be waiting a fair bit longer for this one. But, on a lighter note, it’s been rumored that the Playstation Plus monthly free games for April will include the fourth installment to the series, Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End.
